MoPH observes National Burn Prevention Day, 17 December 2008

The slogan for this year is Prevention of Burn is Prevention of Deaths and Disabilities


Ministry of Public Health observed the first ever National Burn Prevention Day. The aim of MoPH from this observance is to underline the importance of burn prevention through increasing public awareness on the reduction of vulnerability to burn.



Inauguration of the first meeting of Interministerial Coordination (IMC) committee for Health and Nutrition sector

Dr. S.M. Amin Fatimie, the Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan officially inaugurated the first meeting of Interministerial Coordination (IMC) committee for Health and Nutrition sector. In this meeting representatives of related ministries and governmental administration participated. The following officials were among the participants.



Inauguration of a solution to decently settle and properly treat drug abusers.

Dr. S.M. Amin Fatimie, the Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan officially inaugurated a meeting of government ministries and Kabul municipality on finding a solution to decently settle and properly treat drug abusers residing in the ruins of former House of Knowledge and Culture of former Soviet Union in Kabul city. It was decided that a committee under the leadership of Ministry of Counter Narcotics for the solution of this problem. These actions will then be followed by the relevant ministry in order to have a sound solution to the problem of drug use in Old Russian Cultural Center as well in the community.



The Karbala Event

Mohammad Karim Khalili, vice president of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan :The Karbala Event should not only be seen from historic and emotional lenses and must not be celebrated with weeping and ritual chest-beating. This landmark event has very precious and meaningful dimensions.


Around 200 mourners of Hashura have donated their bloods to Ministry of Public Health, Blood Bank. In this event which was held by Ministry of Public Health, Mohammad Karim Khalili has participated and said: today we are witnessing a beautiful and historic move in our country.



Officially openning of final written exam of 174 doctors

Dr. S.M. Amin Fatimie officially opened final written exam of 174 doctors trained in 19 specialties in 17 Hospitals of Kabul and 7 Hospitals of the provinces. Upon the successful passing of the exam, these doctors will be deployed across the countries to serve people with their new capacities. It is mentionable that these doctors should pass a practical test in the training hospitals later to qualify as specialists. In the past two years around 400 specialist have been awarded specialist degrees and working in different hospitals. Dr. Fatimie in his address to the doctors said that 30 years of war and destruction had broken hearts and minds of Afghans and they needed kindness and humane behaviour and treat from doctors. Specialty was important and necessary; however, good behaviour of doctors would encourage patients to share their problems comfortably with doctors and would help in diagnosis and treatment.
