MoPH establishes STOP TB Partnership in Afghanistan |
Objective of this partnership in Afghanistan is to ensure access to diagnostic facilities, treatment and recovery from tuberculosis and finally eliminate TB from Afghanistan said Dr. Fatimie. He also added that: the case fatality due to tuberculosis has dropped from 23000 in 2002 to 7800 in 2007 and it shows a quantum leap in the control of TB in Afghanistan. This partnership is promoting the idea of: Care for the voice of Afghanistan.one voice, one response, one motivation, stop tuberculosis, Afghanistan needs your support now in fighting TB more than ever. The committee will continue discussions in Kabul after Paris Conference.
Members of stop TB partnership committee are Dr. S.M. Amin Fatimie, Minister of Public Health, Dr. Faizullah Kakar, Deputy Minister for Technical Affairs, a representative from the Ministry of Education, a representative from the Ministry of Culture and Information, a representative from the Ministry of Higher Education, Dr. Mohammad Khaliq Seddique, Director of National TB Control Program, Head of Grant and Contract Management Unit of MoPH, a representative from WHO, a representative from the JICA, a representative from the World Bank, a representative from the USAID, a representative from NGOs working in the TB program, a representative from the Ministry of Women affairs, representatives of the Upper and Lower House of the Parliament, a representative from the council of religious scholars, a representative from the business community, Professor Mir Ali Asghar Paiman Advisor to the second vice president, Mr. Rohullah Naikpa Stop TB Good Will Ambassador, two TB Specialists, one recovered TB patient, one journalist and one each representative from the ministry of defense and ministry of interior.
Ministry of Public Health delivers health services impartially and without any form of discrimination to the needy people of Afghanistan in all corners of the country and requests all parties to respect this policy and support health care providers to fulfill this noble job.
MoPH Afghanistan is indebted to many individuals and health stakeholders, especially Afghan families and elders, UNICEF, WHO, the World Bank, USAID, Rotary International, European Union, CIDA, Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI Alliance) and JICA.
