Background:

Health care waste management is a Discretionary Fund For Development Projects (HCWMP) which is working under the supervision of Environmental Health Directorate EHD/ Ministry of Public Health/Islamic Republic of Afghanistan since 1389 to implement certain mechanisms such as monitoring/performance, Developing training package for healthcare workers on proper healthcare waste management, Expand the pilot of existing incinerators in medical waste. Capacity building and public awareness through effective implementation of quality Environmental Health services with collaboration of all relevant organizations at the national level.

 

 

Over all objective of the project:

Regular supervision from proper management of waste disposal process (segregation; caring, storage and incineration) to protect environment, and air from contamination of health care waste pollution.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. regular supervision of Incinerators  
  2. Monitor the process of medical waste disposal through different wards of hospital.
  3. Make sure trained technician and cleaner are using personal protection equipment during process of waste management.
  4. Contribute in establishing Hospital HCWM  medical waste disposal committee
  5. Held training for hospital’s staff regarding to the proper management of medical waste.
  6.  Make sure hospital medical waste storage area is restricted from access for children and animal.
  7. Make sure medical staff  reducing the amount of medical waste through proper segregation
  8. providing activity report to the head of project 
  9. any other relevant task to the process, given by the head of Project  

 

Qualifications:

  1. Graduated from one of the registered medical university (MD).
  2. Practical experience or at lease having knowledge of medical waist disposal 
  3. At least one year experience of Monitoring and Supervision.
  4. Excellent communication skills and behavior.
