Afghanistan National Association of Public Health Established
Dr Suraya Dalil, Policy&Planning deputy Minister and Acting Minister of Public Health inaugurated the very first National Association of Public Health on Wednesday at Kabul Serena Hotel. She highlighted the potential need for such associations to be established in Afghanistan.

It is a special occasion for those who serve for maintaining Afghans’ health. We have continuously attempted to improve the health system in Afghanistan. Afghanistan has attained great achievements in the way of caring for the health of Afghans. That is why we are proud of these successes. Meanwhile, one must not ignore many challenges which still exist within the area of Public Health, especially, the ones that our esteemed citizens suffer from and we must pay particular attention to deal with the challenges currently existing in health area.Said Dr Dalil.

She added Establishing such associations, on the other hand, play vital roles in strengthening HR department of the public health Ministry.

In addition, while introducing the association to the gathering, chairman of Afghanistan National Association of Public Health, Dr Ahmad Shah Salehi, said: Afghanistan National Association of public Health is a non-governmental and not for profit organization which includes public health specialists and its followers. Members of this association believe that all the people of Afghanistan should have access to equitable health services.

Moreover, General Sohaila Sediq and Dr S.M. Amin Fatemie, ex-ministers of public health, Dr Nematullah, chief of health commission at Wolesi Jerga, Dr Obaidullah Obaid, chancellor of Kabul University of Medical Sciences and some other participants discussed, each in turn, the importance of this association for Afghanistan Public Health Sector.

The Afghanistan National Association of Public Health has recently been established by a number of public health specialists and is aimed to improve and strengthen the public health academic standards, to encourage part taking at doing researches on topics connected with public health affairs, to offer technical support to MoPH and other health agencies, to present update data through conducting seminars, conferences…etc and to finally help improve HR department of MoPH.
