
International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) assisted some equipment and medical supplies to Rabia Balkhi maternity hospital on Tuesday, May 18. H. E. Dr. Ahmad Jan Naeem, Deputy Minister for planning and policies, Mohammad Masoom Stanikzai, Head of National Security, Gen. John Nicholson, commander of international forces in Afghanistan and United States of America ambassador to Afghanistan attended the ceremony.
Dr. Ahmad Jan Naeem Deputy Minister of Planning and Policy of the Ministry of Public Health on behave of the ministry of public health expressed appreciation and said “International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) alongside helping our security forces to bring peace to Afghanistan, they are also doing humanitarian aids and today, we are witnessing their aids to Rabia Balkhi Hospital. Rabia Balkhi Hospital is one of the largest maternity hospitals in Kabul, which provides huge maternity services in Kabul city. Therefore, this hospital needs to be equipped with modern medical equipment.”
Gen. John Nicholson, commander of international forces in Afghanistan said "I am very pleased to see the medical equipment which we donated to the hospital is being used. The services are provided at the hospital for the next generations of Afghanistan is very important and we are committed to continuing our cooperation in the health sector in the future.”
Mohammad Masoom Stankzia, Director of the National Security said “Health Workers are angel who save lives and emphasized that the health workers get paid the lowest wages but doing great job.”
Equipment donated to the hospital included two X-ray machines, two ultrasound devices, 210 beds with mattresses and pillows and 30 cabinets/shelves. Rabia Balkhi Hospital is one of the most crowded maternity hospitals in Kabul, which on average receives around 900 patients daily.
