Ministry of Public Health of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan held the Sixth Health Results Conference, attended by officials of the Ministry of Public Health and national and international health partners.
The aim of the conference was to share the results of the national and international health surveys with health system stakeholders, policy and decision makers and to renew the health strategy, policy and programs, enabling them to make transparent and evidence-based decisions.
H. E. Dr. Ferozuddin Feroz, Minister of Public Health pointed out the conference as a good opportunity to identify the gaps and achieve the goals and strategies of the Ministry of Public Health and added, “In recent years, significant progress has been made in improving the health of Afghan people, especially in children's health, but still there are problems and challenges in Afghanistan health sector.”
H. E. Dr. Ferozuddin Feroz, Minister of Public Heath stated, “Identifying and prioritizing the problems and challenges of the health sector is one of the main responsibilities of the Ministry of Public Health and the national and international partners. We are here to share our findings and experiences in the field of good governance in health sector, improving health services delivery, development of health institutions and human resources, public health and monitoring and evaluation of the Health Information Systems.”
The conference is paving ground for health program managers, policy makers, scholar, experts and other stakeholders to discuss and share their scientific findings and experiences in order to improve the quality of health care, strengthen health systems and basic health services in Afghanistan.
It is worth mentioning that in this conference the results of 90 researches conducted by the Ministry of Public Health in different parts of the country in the areas of good governance, development of health institution, public health, providing health services, human resources and monitoring and evaluation of health information systems. The findings of the surveys will be incorporated into the Ministry of Public Health Strategy.
At the conference, a number of other speakers gave speeches about the aforementioned topics and emphasized on addressing the problems and challenges.
