Afghanistan Strengthens Polio Eradication Plan: Key Leaders Discuss Nationwide Strategy
The National Emergency Operations Center for Polio Eradication, under the Ministry of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, held a meeting titled "Polio Eradication Strategy Discussion."
The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including Deputy Minister of Healthcare Services, Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani; Director of the National Emergency Operations Center for Polio Eradication, Dr. Abdul Quddus Baryali; representatives from international organizations working on polio in Afghanistan; and provincial and regional officials.
Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani described polio as a highly contagious and dangerous disease and emphasized that vaccination is the most effective preventive measure.
He stated: "A well-structured plan has been developed in collaboration with international partners to ensure that all children across Afghanistan receive the polio vaccine."
Reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to polio eradication, Haqqani emphasized that, with international support, vaccination services will be expanded to ensure accessibility for every child in the country, paving the way for a polio-free Afghanistan.
During the conference, participants shared their experiences, insights, and future plans, discussed challenges, and proposed practical solutions to accelerate the eradication of polio.
