During the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health Services, Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani, alongside representatives from domestic and international agencies, directors from the Ministry of Public Health, and representatives from the Ministry of Interior’s Narcotics Control Department, reaffirmed their commitment to combatting drug abuse through enhanced coordination efforts.

Mr. Haqqani highlighted the operational status of 61 healthcare centers across the country dedicated to the treatment of drug addiction. Over the past 24 months, approximately 55,000 individuals struggling with substance abuse have received treatment at these medical facilities. These centers provide care for children, adolescents, adults, and women, with thousands currently undergoing treatment.

Emphasizing the necessity of international cooperation, Mr. Haqqani appealed for further assistance from global organizations to bolster treatment efforts for drug addicts. He underscored the significant impact of the national drug addiction treatment program, which has educated nearly 800,000 citizens on drug prevention measures this year alone. Additionally, approximately 2,600 health personnel have been deployed to support these services.
