The Minister of Public Health, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, convened a meeting with Dr. Tajuddin Avila, the Director General of UNICEF for Afghanistan, and his accompanying delegation, alongside provincial directors, to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the healthcare services rendered by implementing agencies.
During this pivotal meeting, which also included the Deputy Minister of Food and Medicine, Mawlawi Hamdullah Zahid, a myriad of critical issues were deliberated, such as the timely provision of pharmaceuticals to hospitals, the equitable distribution of salaries for healthcare personnel, the prompt resolution of technical challenges in health facilities, the enhancement of hospital infrastructure, and the creation of additional resources for maternal and child health.
His Excellency Jalali expressed profound gratitude for UNICEF's financial support to the implementing agencies in Afghanistan and advocated for the establishment of a bilateral committee by the organization to ensure efficient funding for upgraded hospitals and centers, foster two-way coordination, enhance transparency in operations, and ascertain the quality and timely delivery of medicines to healthcare facilities.
Furthermore, the Minister underscored the imperative for implementing agencies to disseminate vital information to provincial health directors regarding the quality and quantity of medicines delivered to hospitals.
In response, Dr. Avila assured his unwavering commitment to collaboration in these areas, articulating that their objective is to jointly deliver superior health services to all Afghans in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health, and affirmed that they would continue their longstanding cooperation in this endeavor.
