Minister of Public Health Inaugurates Newly Completed District General Hospital in Chawwkay, Kunar Province
he Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, officially inaugurated a district-level general hospital in Chawwkay District during his formal visit to Kunar Province.
The hospital, which has been completed at a cost of approximately 28 million Afghanis, was formally commissined for public use. It is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing healthcare delivery and expanding access to essential medical services for the residents of the district and surrounding communities.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor of Kunar Province, Alhaj Abdullah Haqqani; the Chairman of the Ulema Council, Sheikh Abdul Qahar Siddiqi; the Provincial Director of Public Health, Qari Muzaffar Khan Mukhlis; the Provincial Commander in Chief, community elders, local officials, and respected religious scholars. During their addresses, the speakers expressed sincere appreciation to the leadership of the Ministry of Public Health for taking such foundational and people-centred initiatives to resolve long-standing public health challenges. They emphasized that the completion of this facility would significantly alleviate existing healthcare constraints in the area.
In his keynote address, the Minister delivered a comprehensive briefing on the Ministry’s national development strategy, stating that the foundation stone of the hospital had been laid some time ago and that its completion within such a short period stands as a clear testament to institutional commitment, coordinated efforts, and effective governance. He further stressed the Ministry’s commitment to the balanced and equitable expansion of healthcare services across the country, adding that there are plans to establish district-level general hospitals in nearly 318 districts nationwide. This initiative, he noted, will substantially increase public access to healthcare and broaden national health coverage.
H.E. the Minister also highlighted the core values of the Islamic system, the benevolence of the leadership toward the people, and the unwavering resolve of the authorities to ensure a comprehensive and responsive approach to addressing public needs and demands.
