Ministry of Public Health Reviews Strategic Plan of the National Addiction Treatment Program

Inaugural Meeting to Review the Strategic Plan, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Related Guidelines of the Ministry of Public Health’s National Addiction Treatment Program
The meeting was attended by Dr. Wahdat Alokozay, Director General of Curative Medicine at the Ministry of Public Health, along with several central directors and officials of the ministry, as well as representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO) and partner organizations.
Dr. Wahdat Alokozay stated: “Addiction is a disaster, and a systematic, comprehensive plan must be developed and regularly reviewed to ensure effective treatment for addicts.”
Alokozay added that the new strategic plan should be revised and updated in line with the country’s current conditions. He further emphasized that this program is not solely the responsibility of the Ministry of Public Health, but also requires the cooperation of all relevant government institutions and international organizations.
At the meeting, the Director of the National Addiction Treatment Program, Mawlawi Inamullah Ammar, said: “The purpose of reviewing this program is to improve the strategic plan, guidelines, and procedures so that addiction treatment services are delivered in accordance with the country’s current circumstances and international standards.”
Ammar expressed gratitude to international organizations, particularly the World Health Organization (WHO), for their cooperation, and urged them to further strengthen their support in this regard.
In addition, Dr. Zabihullah Haris, Director of Primary Health Services at the Ministry of Public Health, and Ali Reza Norouzi, Representative of the World Health Organization, delivered comprehensive remarks on the review of the strategic plan and pledged their cooperation. They affirmed that they would work closely with the Ministry of Public Health in the review process of the National Addiction Treatment Program to improve service quality and ensure the effective implementation of the program’s objectives.
