Afghanistan's Health Minister Meets WHO to Discuss Expansion of Cancer Treatment Centers and Strengthening Healthcare Infrastructure

The Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, convened a meeting with the World Health Organization's (WHO) representative for Afghanistan and their accompanying delegation at his office.

During the discussions, key issues were addressed, including the establishment of specialized healthcare centers for the treatment of cancer patients in ten provinces, including Kabul, the procurement of critical medical equipment and pharmaceuticals for oncology care, and the provision of enhanced healthcare services to remote and underserved regions. Furthermore, the dialogue focused on mobilizing international support to bolster Afghanistan's healthcare infrastructure and capabilities.

His Excellency Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali extended his appreciation to WHO for its support in setting up oncology treatment centers across the country and called for sustained collaboration in the healthcare sector.

The WHO representative reiterated the organization’s commitment to long-term cooperation in the health domain, assuring improved coordination and a strong partnership to ensure the effective implementation of these initiatives.
