Health authorities in Afghanistan’s Faryab Province inspected 59 private-sector pharmaceutical facilities over the past month, including drug wholesalers and company agencies in the provincial capital, Maymana.

The inspections covered 44 wholesale medicine outlets and 15 company offices and warehouses. Five businesses were ordered to close after being found guilty of overcharging customers.

The inspection team also confiscated around 100 varieties of expired medicines, weighing about 500 kilograms, which were transferred to the provincial public health directorate for destruction.
