Minister of Public Health and UNDP Representative Discuss Renewable Energy and Health Strategies in Afghanistan

Kabul – H.E. Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, Minister of Public Health for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, convened with Mr. Stephen Rodriques, UNDP’s Representative to Afghanistan, to discuss collaborative strategies for bolstering the country’s healthcare infrastructure.

The dialogue centered on the deployment of solar energy solutions across healthcare centers, the criteria for selecting appropriate sites, and integrated approaches to combating endemic diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS. The discussion also delved into the review of healthcare service delivery and reinforced the importance of operational transparency.

Minister Jalali lauded UNDP’s ongoing partnership and underscored the critical role of renewable energy in remote healthcare access. He stressed that effective disease control and enhanced healthcare provision hinge on precise coordination, with transparency and accountability paramount in ensuring the impact of services.

In response, Mr. Rodriques affirmed that UNDP prioritizes transparency and accountability in its interventions. He assured continued, long-term collaboration to further strengthen Afghanistan’s healthcare system, contributing to its sustained development.
