Afghanistan and Russia Discuss Expanding Cooperation in Food Safety and Trade
The Deputy Minister for Food and Drug of the Ministry of Public Health, Mawlawi Hamdullah Zahid, met with officials responsible for food safety regulation in Russia during his official visit to the country.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the expansion of bilateral and technical cooperation in the areas of food and food safety, facilitating the export and import of food products, and creating opportunities for safe and standardized trade.
They also emphasized enhancing technical capacities, harmonizing food quality control standards, and establishing the necessary coordination mechanisms to improve export and import processes.
In addition, both sides discussed signing a bilateral agreement on food safety, as well as existing challenges in trade, transportation, standard packaging, and the shortage of cold storage facilities. They stressed joint cooperation to address these issues.
