Minister of Public Health Convenes a meeting with heads of WHO and UNICEF for the prevention and control of the monkey pox

The Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, convened a meeting in his office with Mr. Edwin Ceniza Salvador, the head of the World Health Organization for Afghanistan; Dr. Tajuddin Avila, the Head of UNICEF' office; and senior officials from the International Organization for Migration. The primary focus of the discussion was to deliberate on critical strategies for the prevention and control of the monkeypox outbreak in Afghanistan.
The deputy minister for Health Development and Policy, Dr. Mohammad Hassan Ghiasy, and the deputy minister for Health Services, Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani, were also present at the meeting. Extensive dialogue took place on enhancing inter-agency coordination, procuring necessary equipment, and formulating an appropriate medical response to mitigate the spread of monkeypox.
Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali emphasized the imperative to rigorously control infectious diseases, particularly monkeypox, through collaboration with international organizations. He stated, "Our utmost priority remains to avert the entry of any infectious diseases that pose a threat to the health and well-being of our citizens." He deemed the continued partnership with these organizations essential, urging their sustained support for the Ministry of Public Health.
A special committee was also assigned to undertake the necessary measures for the prevention of this disease, ensuring ongoing coordination and joint action among all relevant agencies.
