MoPH Deputy Minister Conducts Field Visit to Torkham Health Facilities Serving Returnees

TORKHAM, NANGARHAR — In a continued effort to strengthen healthcare services for returnee refugees, the Deputy Minister for Health Services Delivery at the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani, led a technical team on a field visit to Torkham to monitor the delivery of health services.

The monitoring delegation included Dr. Wahdat Alokozay, Director General of Curative Medicine; members of the MoPH technical team; and Mawlawi Aminullah Sharif, Director of Nangarhar Public Health. The team conducted close inspections of various departments within the Torkham Emergency Hospital and health centers situated in areas hosting returnee populations.

During the visit, Haqqani provided clear directives to the healthcare staff on improving and expanding health services, underscoring the importance of timely and efficient medical response for returnees facing vulnerable conditions.

According to MoPH officials, a total of nine health centers and a 20-bed hospital are currently operational in Torkham, offering essential health services to the influx of returnees. Furthermore, 15 ambulances have been strategically deployed in critical locations to support emergency transportation needs.
