MoPH Signs Agreement with Qatar Charity for 400-Bed Maternal, Child, and Internal Medicine Hospital in Kandahar

The Ministry of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan signed an agreement with Qatar Charity to build a 400-bed hospital in Kandahar province for mothers, children, and internal patients.

The signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Public Health, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, Deputy Minister for Health Promotion and Policy, Dr. Mohammad Hassan Ghiasy; senior officials of the ministry; Qatar’s Chargé d’Affaires to Afghanistan Dr. Murdif Al-Qashouti; the head of Qatar Charity Dr. Munim Shah; and media representatives.

During the event, the Minister of Public Health said: “An agreement has been signed for the construction of a 400-bed specialized hospital, funded by Qatar’s development budget. This hospital will provide advanced maternal, child, and internal medicine services for Kandahar and the southern provinces.”

He thanked the Government of Qatar and Qatar Charity for their support and added: “I believe this hospital will give thousands of mothers and children access to quality health services.”
