Afghanistan and Turkey Discuss Expanded Cooperation in Health Sector
The Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, met in his office with the Chargé d’Affaires of Turkey to Afghanistan, Mr. Sadin Ay Yildiz.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency Jalali expressed his appreciation for Turkey’s cooperation with Afghanistan in the health sector. He stated that key areas requiring Turkey’s support include the training of Afghan healthcare workers, expanding medical services for children with congenital heart defects, constructing district-level general hospitals and providing them with necessary equipment, and launching and strengthening pediatric neurosurgery services in Kabul. He also noted that Turkish medicines are beneficial for Afghanistan, while emphasizing that their quality and reasonable pricing must be ensured.
The Turkish Chargé d’Affaires reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continuing cooperation with Afghanistan’s health sector. He stated that Turkey will strive to provide the necessary equipment and facilities in line with the Ministry of Public Health’s needs. He also requested the Ministry to share a list of required equipment and resources to further expand practical cooperation in this area.
