Nazir Ahmad Nazar, Deputy Director of Public Health of Badakhshan, stated that with the expansion of the hospital, it will be possible to activate several specialized departments, including ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedics, dermatology, neurosurgery, burn services, and mental health departments.

The Director of the Provincial Hospital, Dr. Shafiq Hamdard, stated that prior to the expansion, the hospital faced serious challenges, and due to a shortage of beds, some patients were referred to other provinces, particularly Kunduz Province, for specialized treatment. He added that this issue has now been resolved and that numerous facilities will be provided for patients.

Residents of Badakhshan welcomed the expansion of the hospital’s capacity and expressed hope that it would further improve the quality of health services.

Notably, Badakhshan Provincial Hospital is the only well-equipped hospital in the province, where hundreds of patients—particularly from remote districts—seek care daily and receive essential health services.
