National Neurosurgery Congress Launched in Afghanistan: Minister of Public Health Highlights Vision for Specialized Medical Growth
The Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, His Excellency Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, took centre stage at the first-ever National Congress of Neurosurgeons, held with the aim of propelling advancements in the country’s neurosurgical field.
The event brought together a broad spectrum of participants, including central directors from the Ministry of Public Health, members of the Afghan Society of Neurosurgeons, specialized surgical professionals from both provincial and national levels, and an array of national and international medical experts.
In his keynote speech, Minister Jalali described neurosurgery as a cornerstone of modern healthcare, asserting that the Ministry is actively working to facilitate overseas educational opportunities for a number of Afghan healthcare professionals in the near future.
He further remarked that neurosurgery, as a highly specialized discipline, is increasingly in demand across Afghanistan. He emphasized the need for academic research, evidence-based practices, and the adoption of cutting-edge techniques currently utilized in advanced medical systems around the world. The minister added that efforts must be made to localize these modern methodologies for practical implementation within Afghanistan.
In a heartfelt appeal, the Minister also called upon Afghan healthcare professionals based abroad to return home and contribute to nation-building. He stressed that their expertise could play a vital role in bridging the gap in neurosurgical services, whether through state-run medical institutions or the private healthcare sector.
