Public Awareness Sessions on World Breastfeeding Week Held in the Capital and All Provinces of the Country
Public awareness sessions marking World Breastfeeding Week, observed annually from August 1 to 7, were held in the capital and all provinces under the leadership of the MoPH’s Public Nutrition Directorate.
The sessions highlighted the importance of breastfeeding and called for greater support and promotion of the practice. Mothers and families were encouraged to initiate breastfeeding within the first hour after birth, exclusively breastfeed infants for the first six months, and continue breastfeeding alongside appropriate complementary foods until two years of age or beyond.
Central and provincial officials of the MoPH stressed the importance of joint efforts to improve maternal and child nutrition. They called on mothers, families, communities, relevant institutions, and national and international partners to continue supporting and promoting breastfeeding.
