Public Awareness Campaigns on Drug Prevention Conducted in Schools Across Afghanistan
Public awareness programs on drug prevention were conducted in several schools and high schools across Kabul, Khost, Paktika, and Bamyan provinces.
These programs were conducted for students and teachers by officials from the 450-bed Jangalak Addiction Rehabilitation Hospital in Kabul, the 80-bed Addiction Rehabilitation Hospital in Khost, the 30-bed Addiction Rehabilitation Hospital in Paktika, and the 20-bed Addiction Rehabilitation Hospital in Bamyan, all operating under the National Drug Treatment Program of the Ministry of Public Health.
The programs provided clear and comprehensive information on the social, economic, psychological, and health harms of drug use. They also highlighted the personal and social consequences of addiction, and shared important guidance on prevention, early identification of drug users, and referral to rehabilitation centers.
