A one-day training and awareness campaign was conducted in various parts of Mazar-e-Sharif city by the Balkh Provincial Directorate of Public Health with the primary objective of enhancing public awareness, outlining the risks associated with Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF), and promoting the adoption of preventive measures

The event was attended by the Deputy Director of Public Health, Dr. Sayed Ahmad Shadab, the Head of Communicable Diseases Control; the Capacity Building Officer; healthcare personnel; and representatives of partner organizations and media outlets

Dr. Sayed Ahmad Shadab, the Deputy Director of the Balkh Public Health Directorate, emphasized that CCHF is a severe and potentially fatal disease transmitted from animals to humans. He stressed that the only effective method to combat this disease is by raising public awareness, ensuring personal and environmental hygiene, and strictly implementing preventive strategies.

Similarly, Dr. Mansor Sawiz, Head of Communicable Diseases Control, provided a comprehensive presentation on the symptoms, modes of transmission, and preventive measures of the disease. He highlighted the importance of taking appropriate precautions during the slaughtering of animals and the processing of meat to prevent potential infections.

As part of the campaign, the Directorate of Public Health distributed informational brochures to the public, delivered vital messages through the media, and instructed healthcare workers to report suspected cases in a timely manner and to give greater attention to this area of concern.

The participants of the campaign underlined the importance of continuing such awareness programs and urged the general public to adhere strictly to health recommendations in order to prevent the spread of CCHF.
