Afghan Health Minister and Chinese Ambassador Discuss Key Healthcare Projects
The Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, His Highness, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali at his office, met with Zhao Sheng, the Ambassador of China.
During the meeting, discussions were held on providing necessary medical equipment for Kabul National Hospital, setting up an institute for traditional medicine, and expanding and reconstructing Mirwais Regional Hospital in Kandahar.
Minister Jalali emphasized the importance of strengthening the healthcare system by improving the capacity of healthcare professionals, expanding the sector, and ensuring hospitals are properly equipped. He formally requested the Chinese Ambassador’s support for the expansion and reconstruction of Mirwais Regional Hospital, the provision of equipment for Kabul National Hospital, and the creation of the traditional medicine institute.
In response, Ambassador Zhao assured continued cooperation, committing to supporting the reconstruction and expansion of Mirwais Regional Hospital, enhancing the capacity of healthcare professionals, and providing essential medical equipment and medicines. He also confirmed that in the near future, the Ministry of Public Health would collaborate with China to begin the hospital reconstruction and expansion process.
