Afghanistan and EU Strengthen Ties to Boost Healthcare and Specialized Treatment Centers

The Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, His Highness, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali in his office, met with the European Union’s Director of the Middle East Division, Peteris Ustubs, and his Deputy Paula Pampai to discuss healthcare priorities.

Talks focused on funding treatment centers for drug addiction and cancer, enhancing healthcare workers’ capacity, and strengthening the national healthcare system. Both sides emphasized the need for sustained support to address critical health challenges.

Minister Jalali thanked the European Union for its ongoing assistance and urged further investment in priority areas, particularly specialized treatment centers and workforce development. He stressed that targeted funding would improve service delivery and healthcare outcomes.

EU officials their satisfaction with the  transparency observed in Afghanistan’s healthcare sector and reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation. They pledged ongoing support to bolster the healthcare system and expand access to essential medical services.
