Minister of Public Health Meets WHO Officials to Strengthen Polio Eradication Efforts

In his official office, the Minister of Public Health of the IEA, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, met with the WHO Representative for Afghanistan, Dr. Edwin Ceniza Salvador; the Head of WHO Polio Team, Dr. Mohammad Jamal; and other officials to discuss key issues.

During the meeting, discussions focused on strengthening the capacity of polio laboratory staff, expanding and funding diagnostic laboratory sections, advancing efforts to combat and eradicate polio, improving health services, and setting the agenda for upcoming technical meetings.

The Minister of Public Health, among other remarks, emphasized that the polio diagnostic laboratory must be further strengthened, fully funded, and properly equipped. He also called on WHO officials to give greater attention and take urgent measures to ensure that all necessary facilities for polio diagnosis are available within the country and that diagnosis is conducted in a timely and standardized manner.
