Minister of Public Health, recently conducts a visit to Indira gandhi Children's Hospital

His Excellency Dr. Qalandar Ebad, the Minister of Public Health, recently conducted a visit to Indira gandhi Children's Hospital. During the visit, representatives from the World Health Organization and UNICEF were also present. The main objective of the visit was to assess and examine the healthcare services being provided to undernourished children at the hospital.

During the visit, Mrs. Dr. Hanan Hassan Balkhi, the Director-General of the Eastern Mediterranean Region of the World Health Organization for Afghanistan, along with a delegation, and Mr. Tajuddin Awaila, the Director of the UNICEF Office for Afghanistan, were also in attendance. Apart from conducting a thorough examination of the treatment department's services, the Minister of Public Health also evaluated the progress of the construction of the oxygen production department within the hospital.

 

His Excellency Dr. Qalandar Ebad, the Minister of Public Health, emphasized the critical importance of prioritizing the well-being of both mothers and undernourished children. He underscored the significance of collaboration with the World Health Organization in addressing the healthcare needs and treatment of malnourished children.

During a meeting held at the hospital, the Minister of Public Health stressed the vital role of the World Health Organization and UNICEF in the healthcare sector. He urged them to extend their health services to residents in remote areas. The Minister also sought their collaboration in areas such as delivery of healthcare, infectious disease control, health system strengthening, and polio eradication, while emphasizing the importance of these efforts.

In response, representatives from the World Health Organization and UNICEF expressed their commitment to cooperating in the treatment of malnourished children and bolstering the health system.

Lastly, the Minister of Public Health successfully concluded the first national polio vaccination campaign by administering the vaccine to several children this year successfully.
