MoPH Holds Online Meeting to Review SHAMS Research Framework

The Director of the National Health Institute of the Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Abdul Jabbar Haidar, held an online meeting with a representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) and Professor Reza Majidzadah, the developer of the SHAMS Research Framework.

The meeting, which was also attended by representatives from several central directorates of the MoPH, featured a presentation by Professor Reza Majidzadah on SHAMS (Sanctions' Health Assessment and Monitoring Support Tools).

The purpose of this research framework is to assess the impact of international sanctions on the health sector and maternal and child mortality in countries across the Eastern Mediterranean Region, and to present evidence-based findings to the international community.

Representatives of the Ministry of Public Health stated that the research framework will be thoroughly reviewed, following which an appropriate decision will be made.
