Minister of Public Health meets with official from Malysia
His Excellency Dr Qalandar Ebad, the Minister of Public Health in the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, hosted a meeting in his office with Dr. Shazalina Zainul Abidin, Director of Central and South Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, along with Ramlan Abdul Malik, Advisor to the Prime Minister's Office, and their accompanying delegation.
The discussions centered on enhancing the healthcare system, bolstering the capabilities of Afghan healthcare personnel, fostering bilateral cooperation, and Malaysia's involvement in healthcare initiatives. His Excellency Dr. Ebad emphasized the ministry's commitment to delivering healthcare services to remote regions, highlighting it as a primary responsibility. He acknowledged substantial advancements made in the healthcare sector over the past two years and stressed the necessity for further efforts to strengthen the healthcare system. His Excellency Dr. Ebad called for Malaysia's participation and advocated for enhanced bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Furthermore, he mentioned the current availability of 11000 operational beds nationwide, expressing the need to increase this number to 45000 to ensure the provision of quality healthcare services. Additionally, His Excellency Dr. Ebad emphasized the importance of training Afghan specialists across various healthcare departments to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare to all citizens.
In response, the Malaysian representatives assured their commitment to training Afghan specialists and pledged continued support and cooperation in the healthcare field.
