Training of Trainers Workshop on Community Digital Engagement and Misinformation Management Held

A two-day Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop on community digital engagement and misinformation management was successfully held in Kabul by the National Emergency Operations Center for Polio Eradication under the Ministry of Public Health, with the support of international partners. The workshop aimed to strengthen public trust, increase demand for the polio vaccine, and effectively tackle misinformation.

During the workshop, which was attended by representatives from the National Emergency Operations Center, UNICEF, the Communication Working Group (CWG), and partner organizations, the head of the center, Alhaj Dr. Abdul Qudoos Baryalai, delivered his remarks and stated:

“This two-day training workshop is an important opportunity to build the capacity of trainers, enabling them to deliver high-quality training services in the field.” He further highlighted the importance of addressing misinformation, noting that it plays a vital role in achieving polio eradication.

Meanwhile, representatives of UNICEF, speaking on behalf of the organization, shared their views and reaffirmed their commitment to continue their support and sustain ongoing efforts in this area.

Throughout the workshop, in-depth discussions were held and practical guidance was provided on key topics, including digital engagement, social listening, rumor management, and effective response strategies to misinformation. In addition to theoretical knowledge, participants took part in practical exercises, engaged in group discussions, and worked on scenario-based activities, which are expected to enhance their skills and ensure the practical application of knowledge.

At the end of the workshop, participants worked collaboratively to develop practical action plans based on field realities, with the aim of putting their learning into practice in an effective and timely manner.

It is expected that these efforts will help build public confidence, boost vaccine uptake, and contribute to meaningful progress toward the eradication of polio.
