A pharmaceutical manufacturing factory, Dem Pharma, with an investment of USD 30 million, inaugurated in Herat Province

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Public Health Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, Deputy Minister of Food and Drugs Mawlawi Hamdullah Zahid, a number of government officials, representatives of international organizations and the private sector, as well as doctors, traders, and industrialists.

The factory was established to strengthen domestic pharmaceutical production, ensure the availability of high-quality medicines, and reduce reliance on imported medicines. It has the capacity to manufacture around 300 types of medicines. During the ceremony, the foundation stone was also laid for the factory’s second phase, which will be built at a cost of USD 15 million for the production of injectable medicines and is expected to have an annual production capacity of 30 million ampoules and 25 million vials.

H.E. Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali highlighted the importance of expanding domestic production capacity, supporting local investment, and reducing the country’s reliance on imported medicines. He also described the establishment of modern, well-equipped pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities as an important step toward achieving self-sufficiency in medicine production and meeting the country’s healthcare needs.

 

Similarly, Deputy Minister of Food and Drugs Mawlawi Hamdullah Zahid emphasized the importance of production, industry, and technology in the country’s development and economic progress. He noted that manufacturing facilities are important not only for investment but also for serving the public, creating job opportunities, and contributing to the country’s economic growth.
