Officials from the Ministry of Public Health’s Non-Communicable Disease Control and Prevention Department conducted a public awareness campaign on non-communicable diseases in Kabul’s 9th and 10th districts.

During the campaign, residents of Kabul’s 9th and 10th districts received important information on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases. Topics covered included the harmful effects of drug use, the risks of excessive salt intake, high blood pressure, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes. Additionally, a number of awareness posters were put up in public locations to help increase community awareness and encourage healthier lifestyles.

Officials from the Non-Communicable Disease Control and Prevention Department stated that such programs aim to reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases, raise awareness of risk factors, and promote preventive measures. They also encouraged the public to adopt healthy lifestyles, stay physically active, avoid tobacco and drug use, and follow health recommendations to help prevent and control these diseases.

Notably, diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases, and certain cancers are among the leading causes of illness and death worldwide. Raising public awareness plays a vital role in preventing and controlling these diseases.
