UNICEF Donates $400,000 Worth of Medical Equipment to Indira Gandhi National and Specialized Children’s Hospital

Medical equipment and essential medical supplies valued at approximately $400,000 were donated to the Indira Gandhi National and Specialized Children’s Hospital under the Ministry of Public Health.

The equipment, including 10 ventilators, 15 patient monitors, and other essential medical supplies, was procured by UNICEF and officially handed over today to the officials of the Indira Gandhi National and Specialized Children’s Hospital during a ceremony attended by Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani, Deputy Minister for Health Services; Sheikh Mohammad Tahir Haleem, Chief of Staff; Dr. Wahdat Alokozai, Director General of Curative Medicine; and Ms. Andrea James, UNICEF Deputy Representative in Afghanistan

The Deputy Minister for Health Services stated that the donated equipment and medical supplies would help improve healthcare services and reduce maternal and child mortality at the hospital. He also expressed appreciation for UNICEF’s continued financial and technical support.

Sheikh Mohammad Tahir Haleem, also expressed appreciation for UNICEF’s vital support to the National and Specialized Children’s Hospital and urged the hospital officials to ensure the proper use, maintenance, and preservation of the equipment.

Dr. Wahdat Alokozai, highlighted efforts to expand specialized healthcare services and improve public access to healthcare nationwide. He described the provision of these medical supplies and equipment as a positive step toward improving service quality and patient care at the Children’s Hospital.

Ms. Andrea James, described the equipment and medical supplies as highly effective for treating sick children at the Children’s Hospital and reaffirmed UNICEF’s continued commitment and close cooperation with the MoPH and its partners.
