The discussion focused on implementing the decree of the Economic Deputy Office of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, which mandates the suspension of medicine imports from Pakistan.

Mawlawi Zahid thanked the Union for its support and stressed the need to develop an effective mechanism to identify alternative import sources, address traders’ concerns, and streamline company registration and import procedures.

He urged traders to refrain from hoarding and to cooperate with the Ministry in regulating prices to protect vulnerable citizens.

Union representatives expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s ongoing cooperation, affirmed full support for the Islamic Emirate’s decision, and proposed alternative import options from other countries.

Currently, domestic pharmaceutical factories produce over 650 types of medicines, meeting around 20 percent of national market demand.
