Ministry of Public Health Marks World Thalassemia Day with Commitments to Enhance Care and Treatment Nationwide
The Ministry of Public Health commemorated World Thalassemia Day with a gathering led by the Minister of Public Health, His Excellency Dr. Qalandar Ebad; Deputy Minister of Health Services, Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani; and representatives from various other organizations.
During the event, Dr. Ebad provided detailed information about Thalassemia and discussed the ministry's past initiatives to improve home treatment for anemia patients, emphasizing ongoing efforts in this area.
He also highlighted ongoing work to enhance facilities for diagnosing chronic anemia, collaborating with partners to set up well-equipped laboratories and high-standard treatment centers in Kabul and across the country.
Additionally, Dr. Ebad spoke about the ministry's commitment to eliminating substandard medicines and ensuring access to quality pharmaceuticals for all citizens, thereby improving patient care and treatment standards.
Furthermore, Mr. Abdul Wali Haqqani, together with Ahmad Sir Paason, General Director of Therapeutic Medicine, and Dr. Saifurahman Pashtun, Director of the Central Blood Bank, underscored the significance of observing World Thalassemia Day. They provided updates on the health status of patients with the condition and outlined the actions taken to address their needs.
