Deputy Minister of Public Health Meets with ICRC Representatives

The Deputy Minister of Public Health for Health Services Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani, held a meeting with representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) at his office.

The meeting was attended by several central directors of the Ministry of Public Health, Mr. Gerhard Schmitt from the ICRC headquarters, and Mr. Patrick Moiho, Head of the ICRC Committee in Afghanistan. During the meeting, the ICRC presented its five-year strategic plan for the Physical Rehabilitation Programme for Persons with Disabilities to the Ministry of Public Health leadership.

The Deputy Minister expressed his appreciation for the ICRC’s cooperation in this area and stated that all health-sector activities should be implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health and in line with its overall health policy.

The Deputy Minister also highlighted the need to equip and support the emergency departments of central hospitals and the physical rehabilitation hospital for persons with disabilities. He emphasised that all health-sector activities should be carried out under the Ministry’s leadership and in coordination with its relevant technical departments.
