Badghis Province Strengthens Tuberculosis Diagnosis with New GeneXpert Machines
These machines, purchased by the UNDP office at a cost of $27,880, have been installed and activated in hospitals in Badghis province, including Bala Murghab, Ghormach, and Jowand districts.
Currently, the Badghis Provincial Public Health Directorate provides tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment services at 11 centers. It also has a dedicated site (PMDT) for treating drug-resistant patients, where advanced GeneXpert technology is used for patient diagnosis and specialized treatment.
Notably, the installation of these new machines is considered an important step in improving rapid tuberculosis diagnosis, increasing patients’ access to health services, and strengthening the tuberculosis control program in Badghis province.
