The Deputy Minister of Food and Drugs, MoPH, Mawlawi Hamdullah Zahid, and his delegation participated in the Second Global Forum of Drug Regulators held in Dubai. Their attendance demonstrated Afghanistan’s commitment to improving pharmaceutical regulation and engaging with international partners.

The forum included representatives from over 60 countries and leading pharmaceutical companies. Participants discussed ways to strengthen coordination in enforcing drug regulations and monitoring GMP facilities, with a focus on expanding cooperation between Southern nations and the Euro-Asian region. The discussions highlighted concrete strategies to enhance regulatory standards and ensure safer, higher-quality medicines.

To date, the Deputy Ministry of Food and Drugs has awarded GMP certification to four domestic pharmaceutical factories for meeting recognized production standards. The ministry is actively working to help additional factories obtain this certification, with the goal of improving national manufacturing capacity and ensuring reliable access to quality medicines.
