MoPH Launches Public Awareness Campaign to Prevent Foodborne Diseases in Kabul

Officials from the Environmental Health Directorate of the Ministry of Public Health conducted a public awareness program in Kabul’s 4th district to prevent foodborne diseases caused by street food.

The program aimed to raise public awareness about health and hygiene practices during food preparation, purchasing, and consumption. During the program, Environmental Health Directorate officials delivered public health messages to citizens, urging them to purchase food items only from vendors who follow hygiene standards.

They also advised food vendors to ensure proper storage of food items, maintain clean kitchens and utensils, and protect food from dust and flies to safeguard public health and prevent foodborne diseases.

Environmental Health Directorate officials also emphasized the proper storage of hot and cold foods and advised people to seek immediate medical care at the nearest health facility if they experience symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, fever, or severe abdominal pain
