Three-Day Training Program on Risk and Crisis Management in the Food Supply Chain Begins

The program was launched by the Risk Analysis and Food Surveillance Directorate of the Afghanistan Food and Drug Authority (AFDA) of the Ministry of Public Health, in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), for 40 staff members from the Risk Analysis and Food Surveillance Directorate and the Food and Drugs Monitoring and Inspection Directorate, at the AFDA main hall.

At the opening ceremony, Hafiz Dr. Naeemullah Ayoubi, Director General of Food Safety, emphasized the importance of risk management and preparedness for food-related crises. He stated that ensuring food safety requires strengthening technical capacities, adhering to international standards, and enhancing coordination among relevant institutions. He also urged participants to make effective use of the training and apply the knowledge and skills gained in their workplaces.

The three-day program covers a range of key and specialized topics, including risk-based management of food production facilities through monitoring and inspection, the role of inspections in mitigating risks, international standards for risk and crisis management, case studies of food crises around the world, risk-based classification of food production facilities, food supply chain management during emergencies, Afghanistan’s food traceability system, and other related topics.
