The Minister of public health holds a meeting with the head of UNFPA

His Excellency Dr Qalandar Ebad, the Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, held a meeting with Dr. Mark, the head of UNFPA in Afghanistan.
During the meeting, discussions encompassed the Ministry of Public Health's accomplishments over the past two years, including reductions in maternal and child mortality rates, evaluations, initiation of new health-related research, the diverse activities undertaken by the institution, and various other pertinent matters.
Dr Qalandar Ebad, esteemed Minister of Public Health, highlighted the sector's accomplishments over the preceding two years, emphasizing significant strides made by the Ministry of Public Health. He stressed the importance of conducting fresh inquiries and assessments within the health domain to accurately ascertain both achievements and existing challenges.
The Honourable Minister of Public Health requested the UNPFA official to undertake a demographic health survey, last conducted in 2015, to gather updated information pertinent to maternal health and mortality rates for the current year. The Minister emphasized the necessity of collecting this data and implementing requisite measures to prevent adverse health outcomes.
Dr Qalandar Ebad, the esteemed Minister of Public Health, announced plans to establish a proficient committee aimed at mitigating maternal and child mortality rates. This committee will comprise internal and external stakeholders tasked with presenting proposals to the Ministry of Public Health regarding current mortality statistics, underlying causes, and preventive measures through policy implementation.
