Afghanistan Strengthens Immunization Efforts: Minister Jalali Engages Global Health LEADERS

His Highness, the Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, convened a high-level meeting in his office with Edwin Ceniza Salvador, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Afghanistan, alongside the deputy representative of UNICEF, senior officials from Gavi, and representatives of the World Bank.

During the discussions, deliberations revolved around the operational dynamics of immunization services within Afghanistan’s preventive healthcare system, with a strong emphasis on optimizing service delivery, enhancing quality standards, and broadening coverage to reach underserved populations.

His Excellency, Jalali underscored the imperative of ensuring the efficient execution of vaccination programs by implementing agencies, asserting: “We are making concerted efforts to allocate resources from our national budget to fortify immunization initiatives and further consolidate this critical sector.”

In response, representatives of key international organizations, notably UNICEF and Gavi, reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to sustained collaboration, pledging full support towards the seamless execution of nationwide immunization programs.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Public Health remains steadfast in its mission to elevate immunization efforts, spearheading targeted interventions aimed at curbing preventable diseases through the systematic and widespread administration of vaccines.
