World AIDS Day was observed with due reverence.
The Ministry of Public Health, in a solemn gathering, commemorated World AIDS Day with the following dignified slogan: “For the sake of better health, kindly undergo HIV examination to ensure your well-being.”
Moulavi Mohammad Ishaq Sahibzada, Deputy Finance Minister of the Ministry of Public Health, emphasizes that the objective of World AIDS Day is to promote widespread awareness, enhance the accessibility of healthcare services for AIDS patients, and facilitate the dissemination of information on this critical issue.
Furthermore, the Deputy Minister of Finance and Administration stated that the leadership of the Islamic Emirate and the Ministry of Public Health are diligently working towards improving healthcare services and expanding access for those in need across the nation. Significant efforts are currently underway in pursuit of these goals.
Continuing the proceedings, a distinguished message from Dr. Qalandar Ebad, the Minister of Public Health, was eloquently delivered to commemorate World AIDS Day. In this message, the significant contributions of the Ministry of Public Health in combatting HIV/AIDS and attending to the healthcare needs of patients affected by this disease were underscored.
On the other hand, Dr. Bismullah, Director of Communicable Diseases Control; Dr. Sharif Ahmed Ahmadzai, Director of the AIDS Control Program of the Ministry of Public Health; Mrs. Sorio, representative of UNDP; and Dr. Mohammad Akhtar, representative of the World Health Organization, spoke about the World AIDS Day.
It is noteworthy that, according to statistics provided by the World Health Organization, 0.1% of the population in Afghanistan is infected with AIDS. By the end of 2022, approximately 12,000 individuals had been affected by this disease, of which 3,492 people are registered and receiving care through the Ministry of Public Health’s disease control program. All cases have been duly registered and managed by the Ministry.
