Afghan Health Minister Meets WHO Chief to Bolster Global Healthcare Collaboration
The Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, His Excellency Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, held a strategic meeting with the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, during an official engagement in Saudi Arabia.
This high-stakes dialogue revolved around strengthening synergies in the healthcare domain, amplifying initiatives to eradicate polio and other transmissible diseases, expanding healthcare access to marginalized and remote communities, and ensuring robust representation of the Ministry of Public Health in distinguished global health forums and summits. Moreover, an array of critical and mutually significant issues was thoroughly deliberated.
In his remarks, His Excellency Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali highlighted that, following the Islamic Emirate's full establishment, significant progress has been made in fortifying the healthcare system by leveraging domestic financial resources. He emphasized the Ministry's steadfast commitment to reinforcing healthcare frameworks at the district level and outlined a phased approach towards attaining self-sufficiency within the health sector. Additionally, he reaffirmed a firm resolve to address the essential healthcare needs of the populace while aligning efforts with principles of long-term viability and equitable service delivery.
