Afghanistan and Bangladesh Discuss Expanding Bilateral Cooperation in Medicines Regulation

During his official visit to Bangladesh, Hafiz Dr. Naeemullah Ayoubi, Director General of Drugs and Health Products Regulation of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health, met with Major General Dr. Mohammad Shameem Haidar, Director General of Bangladesh’s Drug Regulatory Authority.

During the meeting, which included technical discussions on bilateral cooperation in medicines, the head of Bangladesh’s drug regulatory authority pledged continued collaboration with Afghanistan. Discussions focused on capacity building for Afghan pharmaceutical personnel, expert visits to Bangladesh and its manufacturing facilities, export of high-quality, low-cost medicines to Afghanistan, and the regulation and registration of medicines and health products.

Discussions were held on speeding up the registration and evaluation of Bangladeshi pharmaceutical companies and products, with an agreement to be signed after technical procedures.
