Laparoscopic Surgery Services Launched for the First Time at Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Hospital

For the first time, the Ministry of Public Health has launched laparoscopic surgery services at Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Specialized Hospital in Kabul, expanding access to modern surgical care for patients.

Laparoscopic surgery is a modern, minimally invasive surgical technique in which, instead of making a large incision, surgeons perform the procedure through several small incisions using a camera and specialized surgical instruments. This approach can shorten patients’ recovery time after surgery and reduce the length of hospital stays.

As part of its efforts to strengthen specialized healthcare services, the Ministry of Public Health is working to provide standardized and modern medical services at central and specialized hospitals and to expand citizens’ access to advanced surgical care.

It is worth noting that laparoscopic surgery services have previously been introduced at Ibn Sina Emergency Hospital, Rabia Balkhi Hospital, and Esteqlal Hospital. The expansion of these services marks an important step toward strengthening modern surgical care across the country.
