Regular Meeting of Codex Internal Committees Held to Finalize the Committees’ Guidelines

The meeting was held in the conference hall of the Directorate General of Food Safety under the chairmanship of Dr. Naeemullah Ayoubi, Director General of Food Safety of the Afghanistan Food and Drug Authority (AFDA).

The meeting was attended by representatives from various authorities. At the outset, Dr. Naeemullah Ayoubi, Director General of Food Safety, highlighted the importance and necessity of the Codex internal committees. He emphasized that these committees play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with national and international standards in food production and imports, strengthening coordination among relevant institutions, and enhancing food safety and quality.

The primary objective of the meeting was to finalize the guidelines for the Codex internal committees in order to ensure greater consistency in their operations, clearly define the roles and responsibilities of committee members, and further strengthen coordination among relevant authorities. Various sections of the draft guidelines were thoroughly reviewed, and participants shared their views and recommendations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed that the views and recommendations presented would be incorporated into the draft guidelines and that the document would subsequently be finalized. Following the completion of the technical and administrative processes, the finalized document will be submitted to the competent higher authorities for approval and further necessary action.
