Nimroz, Afghanistan – Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani, Deputy Minister for Health Services at the Ministry of Public Health, along with an official delegation, visited Nimroz province and met with Sheikh Mohammad Qasim Khalid, the provincial governor.

During the meeting, the Deputy Minister stated that the primary goal of the visit was to review the conditions of camps housing individuals with drug addiction and returnee migrants. He emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to listening to their concerns and ensuring the delivery of essential health services. He also announced that, in response to repeated requests from the provincial leadership, the Ministry plans to provide additional medicines and necessary health facilities for the treatment of addicts in Nimroz.

Governor Khalid warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed gratitude for the Ministry’s attention to the province’s needs. He noted that while immediate needs of the addicts have been largely addressed, sustained and focused health services are still required to support their long-term recovery and well-being.

Highlighting recent health challenges, Governor Khalid pointed to the sharp rise in temperatures, which has worsened the medical conditions of vulnerable populations, particularly addicts. He urged the visiting delegation to prioritize medical support and accelerate treatment efforts to mitigate further health risks.

In response, the Ministry’s leadership delegation carefully listened to the concerns presented by both provincial officials and affected individuals. They assured the local authorities that the Ministry would take prompt and effective measures to address these challenges and enhance health services across Nimroz.
