Deputy Minister of Food and Drugs Meets Importers, Announces Measures on Medicine Imports and Phase-Out of Pakistani Drugs

The Deputy Minister of Food and Drugs of the Ministry of Public Health met in his office with officials and members of the Medicines and Medical Equipment Importers’ Association.

Mawlawi Hamdullah Zahid, Deputy Minister of Food and Drugs of the Ministry of Public Health, along with department heads, met with officials and members of the Medicines and Medical Equipment Importers’ Association.

The leadership of the Food and Drugs Deputy Ministry welcomed the association members, briefed them on the resolutions approved by the Office of the Prime Minister of IEA, and shared the facilities introduced for registering import proforms for both existing (grandfather) and new companies.

The officials and members of the Medicines and Medical Equipment Importers’ Association expressed satisfaction with the facilities provided, appreciated the Deputy Minister’s support, and raised issues related to medicine imports, new company registration, and assets remaining in Pakistan.

The Deputy Minister of Food and Drugs Administration at the Ministry of Public Health assured that these issues would be addressed in line with applicable laws and regulations.

The Deputy Ministry of Food and Drugs has formed a committee to implement the ban on Pakistani medicines and prepare a plan to phase them out gradually, ensuring the pharmaceutical market and the country’s health system needs are met.
